Candidate Statement - Kurtis Engle

Kurtis Engle

Elected Experience: I'm not a politician. And while service is an honor, the political process exists for other reasons also. For example, speaking clearly to and with local politicains about sabotaged transit and being seen to have done so. By Voters, and by Department of Transportation. Which will recieve the complaint I will write after the election.

Other Professional Experience: Mr. Ford Died in the Park in December of '16. If Twin Transit was normal, Mr. Ford would have died somewhere else a long time from now. My interaction with local government convinces me I am not to expect to be tolerated very much longer. So let's wrap this up.

Education: Twin Transit rolls 51 miles an hour on 12, 22, & 30. And sits long enough to roll 7. Grand Mound to Napavine is 41 miles, leaving enough to roll Safeway to Safeway also. The law requires the reasonable. Let's talk.

Community Service: No information submitted

Statement: Given last Falls Transit Plan budget, here is what could have been offered:

Buy Tacoma Rail. Rip it up. Hygrade half the steel, sell the other million worth and the 50 lots in the middle of town, and the 50 lots on the west edge of town, AFTER installing underground utility backbone and rezoning Fords Prairie Residential. Plat streets. Gradually remove above ground utilities throughout Centralia.

Hammer rail 30' into the ground to form piers for bike bridges at Eureka, Prospect, High, and behind Borsts' dog run. Pave an underpass at Pearl, possibly also at Harrison. Clear the bike route of fences, gates, ditches and fortifications. Finish the Discovery Trail to Prather, and Buy the trail from Prather to Galvin. Deck that bridge. Pave the bike trail all the way to Offut Lake, where it meets the Chehalis/Western trail. This forms critical mass of local bicycle freeway with very few cars on it. We have many old railbeds.

When you imagine the future and look at right now, notice what isn't here now and isn't here then. Predicting the future is a slightly different enterprise. I suggest you do both. And occasionaly put a hand on things yourself.
