The 2021 Candidate Filing Week is May 17th - May 21st. Online filing will begin at 9 a.m. on May 17th and will be available until 4 p.m. on May 21st. In-person filings may be made at the Lewis County Auditor's Office from 8 a.m. on May 17th until 4:30 p.m. on May 21st.
Candidates may also file by mail beginning May 3rd. Mailed declarations must be received by May 21st at 4:30 p.m.
The deadline to withdraw for the 2021 Primary and General Election is Monday May 24, 2021 by 4:30 p.m.
A Declaration of Candidacy may be withdrawn by submitting a written request for withdrawal to the Election Office by May 24th deadline. If this deadline is missed, you cannot receive an extension. Filing fees are non-refundable.
The online filing tool will give you step-by-step instructions, email you a confirmation of your filing, alert you when other candidates file in your race, and provide a link to submit your voters’ pamphlet statement and photo. You will also receive a separate email from the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) for your public disclosure filing.
Per RCW 29A.36.131 the order in which a candidate's name appears on the ballot is determined by lot draw, not by the order of candidate filing.
