Candidate Statement - Jennifer Hoy

Jennifer Hoy

Elected Experience: No elected experience.

Other Professional Experience: I have been a daycare teacher and substitute teacher. I have provided office work for different business and have been a manager.

Education: Bachelor's degree from The Evergreen State College.

Community Service: I have volunteered with The Fox Theatre, Evergreen Playhouse and Tenino Young-at- Heart Theatre. I am a member of the Lewis County Community Band and am a former foster parent.

Statement: In 2005, we moved to Centralia with the intent of making this our forever home. We have two children in the Centralia school district and are happy with our decision to settle here. While advocating for our children, I have learned both strengths and weaknesses of our district. I would like to be a part of ensuring that the strengths continue to grow and to turn around the weaknesses.

Our two greatest strengths are our teachers and our students. As a parent, and coming from a family full of teachers, I have learned to evaluate education from both sides. Our teachers need to be provided with the correct tools, support and continuing education so they may be their best and achieve their goals that inspired them to become teachers. Our students need to be provided with the best tools to propel themselves into their lives beyond high school regardless if they want to attend college, technical schools, enter into apprenticeships or move directly to the workforce.

If elected, my goals are to listen to our community, improve transparency, create equity for all students and maintain a balanced budget.
